Updates and stuff

Say what?  My last post was in June?  It must seem like I've been in hiding or something!  Don't worry, I've just been diligently working on Book 2 in the Unforgiven series.  What's it called?  I dunno.  Sadly, it is still untitled at this point in time.  I'm thinking about starting a contest where people can give me their input for a title so keep an eye out for that in the near future.

What else is new?  Well, I submitted the manuscript for Fire Burns to my very first Publisher!  Keeping my fingers crossed that it goes well.  Also, I'm getting ready to start another giveaway for a signed copy of the book as well as some potential other goodies from a book fair coming up this weekend.  You can get excited about winning signed copies of books from Alyson Noel, Gena Showalter and Rachel Caine.  If you don't know who they are then you should probably get to reading.  Fantastic authors!

That's pretty much it for now.  I promise to post more frequently and keep everyone updated.  Thanks again to all of my fans and those of you who believe in the magic of indie authors like myself.  You rock!

Woes of a Self-Published Author

When I first started writing years ago, I had planned to try to push my work through a publishing company the old fashioned way.  At that time, I was also heavily reading and happened across an amazing author named Amanda Hocking.  I loved her work and read all of her blog posts.  It was then that I found a specific post on her blog about how she became super successful by self-publishing her work.  It was like a light bulb clicked on in my head and I decided to try doing that for myself.

Enter my 'sad panda' face.  It's actually not as easy or glorious as it sounds.  I think I was just expecting to publish my book and have the fans/reviews/money to just come pouring in, but that is not the way it goes.  There is sooooooooo much more work that goes into it than that.

The main goal?  Find platforms to promote your giveaways, share your Facebook page/blog/links to purchase the book, finding reviewers willing to write/publish reviews to each website you've published with and much more!  I pretty much spam them on a daily basis lol.  It takes up almost all of the free time I have left on top of being an admin/reviewer for Paranormal Romance Junkies on FB and Blogspot, working full time, writing the next book and taking care of my family.

So, for those of you that have purchased, reviewed, liked my blog or FB page, commented, joined my giveaway, etc., THANK YOU!  Without your support, all of my efforts so far would be for naught.  It means more to me than you'll ever know.

The paperback is in....

It's official!  I just received the very first paperback copy of my book ever purchased.  Whose excited?  I am!

On a side note, I don't like the cover-its kind of distorted/pixely so I'm talking to the book cover artist and having her hopefully fix it.  If you want a paperback copy just wait a couple of days and then get to ordering : )

Also, I know there are a ton of you out there that are close friends or family who would like a free autographed copy of my book.  While I would LOVE to make that happen, I just can't afford it. When I first started this venture, my main goal was to promote the ebook instead of the paperback and so it's not cost effective for me to give everyone I know a copy.  Don't panic though, I plan on doing a few giveaways of the paperback so everyone has a chance to win.  I just need to get the whole cover issue worked out first.

Thank you to everyone for all of your love and support.  It is very difficult for a new author to get started and I appreciate ever purchase, kind thought and promotional shout-out you've given me so far!!!
